Lu Jong is an ancient Tibetan practice, rooted in Tibetan Medicine. It is a series of movements that releases blockages and mobilizes stagnant energy, restoring a deep, harmonious balance to body, mind and spirit. It is accessible to all and can be modified to suit all ages and abilities.  There are many benefits to Lu Jong, including increased resistance to disease, improved body awareness, reducing negative emotion and overall stamina. The practice itself is a meditation in movement, cultivating a calm, focused mind and open heart.

In this 6-week series, both practice and theory will be included. We will cover all 23 movements of Lu Jong Level 1: The Five Elements Movements (spine and overall balancing), Five Body Parts Movements (Musculoskeletal), Five Vital Organ Movements, Six Common Conditions Movements and Two Movements for Sleep and Wakefulness.  The theory portion will provide a rich context for the practice. This includes: principles of Tibetan Medicine, understanding the subtle body system of channels, the intimate connection between body and mind, and beginning to glimpse the nature of our minds. While it is greatly encouraged to attend all 6 classes, drop-ins are welcome and will be guided accordingly.

We’ll be singing traditional Hindu kirtan, Buddhist mantras, Gregorian chants, Sufi songs, Jewish melodies, and creative expressions from our own time.

CHANT LEADER
Joseph Anderson, our chant leader, leads us on this meditative journey. He has been chanting for nearly 20 years. An expert teacher and singer of Gregorian chant, his heart is open to all spiritual traditions. Joseph's great joy is to lift his voice in praise to the Divine in many forms.
